 More on that later….

What’s A Beauty Hack?

A beauty hack uses a do-it-yourself solution which usually involves a household item to solve a specific beauty issue. For example, many women use baby powder to absorb the oils on their greasy hair roots as a dry shampoo.

What Are The Best Beauty Hacks? For Skin

The best beauty hacks are ones that yield outstanding results with minimal effort. The simplicity of the following beauty tips will make it easy for you to stay committed and see results rapidly.

PRO TIP: The key to seeing results is consistency. The following tips were chosen for this article because the women of Starpil believe they could be easily incorporated into everyone’s daily routine.

How Do You Get Clear Skin Hacks?

Clean Your Makeup Brushes

If you have been battling breakouts on your skin with an unknown cause, your makeup brushes maybe the evil culprit.

Not only can our brushes ruin our clear complexions, but they also can wreak havoc on our skin by spreading bacteria. What kind of bacteria? Well, we’re glad you asked!

Since many women display their makeup brushes on their bathroom counters, it’s understandable how easy bacteria can jump on - yikes! Grimmy brushes can cause fungal infections, such as E. coli, which is pretty gross.

Hmmm, when was the last time you washed your makeup brushes? If your answer is one month, two months, or I can’t even remember, you’re in for a real shocker!

Estheticians recommend washing makeup brushes every seven to ten days to kill and prevent the spread of bacteria on your skin.

Beauty Hack: You can use a food strainer to assist you in cleaning your makeup brushes. Not only can you use the wire strainer to help loosen the makeup off the bristles, but it can also be used to do a final rinse. If you have an extensive collection of brushes, this will speed up your cleaning process.

 How To Clean Makeup Brushes:

  • Use lukewarm water, shampoo and swirl the bristles against the bottom of the food strainer.
  • Rinse the brushes until the water is transparent.
  • Squeeze excess water and lay your brushes flat to dry.

Please avoid hot water or standing up the brushes while drying as this will break down the glue which holds the brush head to the handle.

Change Your Pillowcase Often

Here’s something to think about - We often toss our clothing in the laundry basket after wearing them for a few hours; however, our pillowcases, not so much.

If you add extra laundry to your to-do list, your complexion will thank you. We recommend swapping out your pillowcases at least once a week, and if you have oily skin, you should change out your linens more often.

If possible, try sleeping on your back which is better for your delicate facial skin and helps prevent wrinkles.

Include The Right Exfoliation For Your Skin Type

The American Academy of Dermatology reminds us that although exfoliation has excellent benefits, the wrong type of exfoliation for your skin needs may cause more harm than good.

Our recommendation is to allow your licensed esthetician to advise you which method is a good fit for your skin type.

Next, start off gently if you choose to use a mechanical exfoliation such as a scrub or brush to remove dead skin cells physically. Lastly, if adding chemical exfoliates into your skin routine, try to introduce one product at a time.

As a general rule, we recommend exfoliating twice a week.

A simple and effective way to exfoliate your face is to add half a teaspoon of baking soda to your favorite facial cleanser. Sodium bicarbonate is a mild abrasive and aids in removing oils.

Remember to test this DIY recipe on your inner forearm first, in case you have a sensitivity. It’s very uncommon, but it’s always best to be safe.

Stay Hydrated

When you are adequately hydrated, your signs of aging are less pronounced. In other words, our skin will appear to be more plumped and firm. Drinking at least eight glasses of water EVERY day is not an easy task, so here is our suggestion...

Beauty Hack: Keep natural flavoring drops to add to your water at all times. Some of us keep our water flavoring drops in our purses.

Of course, we also recommend using real fruit when possible; however, that’s not always realistic.

How To Calm The Skin After Waxing

If you have sensitive skin, applying aloe vera or alcohol-free witch hazel immediately after waxing will do wonders for you. That being said, it does not compare to our Calendula Post-Wax products.

Calendula Wax Collection by Starpil

Our Calendula Collection is our superstar line for your ultra-sensitive skin clients. We formulated this collection with tea tree extracts to help sanitize and protect against harmful pathogens. Of course, calendula oil has been infused in each product for its calming effect.

We like to think of this collection as our Ooh la la, my skin feels fantastic, but we’re biased (-;

Natural Beauty Hacks For Your Hair

First, let’s debunk one of the top beauty hacks for hair which is highly popular on the world wide web. As stated earlier, many women use baby powder as a substitute for dry shampoo; however, our hair gurus disagree.

Most baby powders contain talc, which is toxic. By applying baby powder to your hair roots, you allow the talc to be absorbed into your follicles and body. Fortunately for us, our chief of operations, Rebecca Parker, corrected the few of us who jumped on this trendy beauty hack.

Here’s one hack for your hair we can support.

Using Aloe Vera For Dandruff

The data from a 1998 study found that aloe vera assisted with scalp inflammation that produces dandruff. Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory properties due to its fatty acids.

Hair Beauty Hack: Apply Aloe Vera before or after shampooing a few times a week or as recommended by your health provider to reduce dandruff.

Now without further ado, we would like to introduce our sister brand, Eva Professional Hair Care USA and extend an exclusive discount code to our Starpil Family.

Beauty Hack For Taming Flyaways

Another way to use Aloe Vera in your hair routine is for taming those pesky flyaways. Use a spoolie and some Aloe Vera to brush those hairs right into place. That tiny wand allows you to be super precise, which we love.

Summary

We dare say that by implementing one or all of the above Beauty Hacks, you may find yourself standing a little bit taller or walking with more of a spring in your step. It’s incredible that a few extra efforts in our daily beauty routine can impart a lot of confidence that we find refreshing.
